Welcome to The Long Paddock by Darren Stones. The purpose of this website is to showcase the travel photography, journalism and various projects undertaken along The Long Paddock touring route in New South Wales, Australia by Australian journalist and photographer, Darren Stones. Images which appear on this site can be purchased as print products and also be licensed for your various needs.

The Long Paddock touring route begins at Moama on the iconic Murray River and travels north to Wilcannia in outback New South Wales, Australia. It follows the historic Cobb Highway, which for most part is bitumen, however a lengthy dirt section stretches between Ivanhoe and Wilcannia.

Whilst travelling The Long Paddock you can see:

Shear Outback at Hay is a popular tourist attraction which honours Australian shearers who have put their time and skills back into the shearing industry. Shear Outback also has live shearing shows with an informative commentary and indoor displays showcasing the history and development of the shearing industry in Australia.

Situated on the banks of the Edward River, Deniliquin is home to the world's largest annual ute muster. A town with superb gardens, Deniliquin is friendly and relaxed - a great place to explore and spend a few days.

"My Australian travel photography and writing is a culmination of various factors – some planned, some not so planned. At times, the critical photographic moment presents itself unexpectedly in front of my eyes. Years of professional photography and journalism studies, and actively undertaking and completing projects in the field, has delivered me to a point where I have a perception of knowing where to be and at what time.

I travel in Australia and work diligently to record things of interest. I cherish experiencing Australia and make my own luck by doing things to the best of my ability. My occupation is to skilfully interpret and present to an audience what’s happening in Australia with a combination of travel photography and writing. The journey and work continues with vigour."
